Apartment-hunting: Accomplished!

So, week 4 it is already... Time really flies. Let me start by saying we found an apartment!! :D I'm sooo happy, because it's a real nice one! It is a ground-floor apartment in a really beautiful house, in a beautiful street with trees and everything and the neighbourhood is also very cool and lively.

I'm so happy that we found this one, because the whole thing was a bit discouraging from time to time. We had so many viewings, one day we even had like 5 or 6 viewings, so we were on a very tight schedule. I don't know why, but there are a lot of not so great apartments out here. Many of them have almost no windows, so you would have no natural light fall. Also there were quite a few basement-apartments, also with almost no natural light. Or the apartments were really dirty or messy. So after 2 weeks of having viewings almost every day, we found this one. Yes, I made a little happy dance... ;) And, we're going to move in Tomorrow!!

So the last 2 weeks have been really busy weeks, because we had to look for some stuff and buy some furniture. We didn't bring anything with us but clothes and shoes. So this was a bit strange but it's also really nice and a revelation to start from scratch. And I'm really excited, because now I can channel my inner interior-designer :P

Aside from apartment-hunting we also had to arrange some other stuff. Also we started working again and after work we went for walks, did some exploring, we went shopping for furniture and we went out for dinner... A lot!
Oh and also, I made a new friend, double jeeej :D She is really amazing and funny and I'm so happy about it. She complimented me on my outfit (see pictures below) and since then we exchanged numbers and hung out a few times.

So I can truly say, at this moment, I'm so happy we took on this adventure. I think Ottawa is already growing on me! But I say 'at this moment' very consciously, because winter is coming... We'll talk some more after that :P
But seriously, if anyone has tips on where to go for winter-gear and how to dress for Canadian winters, please let me know! Yes I'm early, but preparation is everything right?

A big Canadian adventure

Okay, let me start by saying it's such a relief to finally tell you what the big and exciting thing is that I mentioned in a couple of my previous posts!! Also, I'm glad I finally have the time to write this blogpost.
The big and exciting thing is that Gordon and I moved to Ottawa, Canada!! Yes, let that sink in a bit, before I tell you how it all went down... :P

In the beginning of 2015 Gordon and I visited a friend of ours that lives and works in San Francisco and he introduced Gordon to Facebook and set him up on doing some interviews. After a few days of interviews Gordon got offered a job there. So here it actually started. I was immediately excited, as spending some time abroad or even moving abroad was one of my lifelong dreams. But so far, nothing to be excited about, since we had to go trough all the formal stuff, like visa and for this particular visa a random lottery was issued. So after all the months of waiting and keeping it a secret, which was very hard for me because I wanted to make plans and act on it, we heard that we didn't came through the lottery.

Here we hit a bit of a road-block, because we had our minds set on going on an adventure. But then Gordon came, very randomly, in contact with someone who worked at Shopify, an e-commerce company in Canada. Gordon had some interviews, we even went there last november, you can read about that weekend here. Again he was offered a job. We were very sceptical about obtaining our Canadian work permits, but after another 5 very longgg months, last June we finally heard the good news: we could move to Canada.

Even though we already ended the lease on our apartment in Maastricht (we lived at our parent's for some time), I quit my job at the Provincial Government (I also found a new job as a content manager at that I could do from Canada) and we sold almost all our stuff and furniture, we still had to arrange some stuff. Also, we had to deal with some emotional stuff, as saying goodbye to our friends and family. But July 29th was the day, the day we were standing at the airport, with almost all our belongings in 5 bags (they were big though, I had to pack all my clothes, shoes and bags remember :P) taking this big step of moving to another continent.

And now, we've been in Ottawa just over a week and the arranging didn't stop. We had to go to the bank, to the government and we are busy apartment-hunting! This I quite like, I love looking inside homes and imagine all the possibilities, and so far so good. We saw quite a few already and we've got one on the radar that we really like. So who knows!

If anyone has tips on anything at all about moving abroad, please let me know!
Of course I will keep you updated on our life here in Canada.

Black and blue in the park

Finally I'm able to write a new blogpost about this black and blue outfit I wore on a warm day in Copenhagen! There is a lot of stuff going on right now, so I didn't have the time. But I promise I can let you in on it in about 2 weeks... So stay tuned, it will be quite something ;)
But for now, this black and blue outfit, where I wore my dress as a top, it is!

When we visited Copenhagen last month we went to Assistens Kirkegård, which you can read in my previous post and I really loved it there. The mood in this park was really something I didn't expect, since it's an actual graveyard, but it felt really serene. Although it was a warm day, it actually was a bit cooler between all the green and I could've easily laid there all day, just to relax with my love or friends and have a picknick, that would've been really wonderful! So I decided I had to do this outfit-shoot here. Also, because I thought all the green would be the perfect background for my black and blue outfit.

The top I'm wearing here is actually a dress, but somehow I like it better as a top especially with this perforated faux-leather skirt. This way it looks more playful yet sophisticated and the back attracts more attention. And indeed, the back... I just love it! Furthermore, this way the print isn't all in your face. Because we did a lot of walking, I paired it with my white sneakers (if you want to go for a more dressed up look, this would also be great with some heels) and because I'm almost always cold I brought my jeans jacket with me. Of course I wore my beloved half moon bag, because burgundy looks good with everything, right?

So have you ever worn your dress as a top?
Feel free to let me know what you think of this outfit!
